The evening will feature an artist talk, a mental wellness panel, community conversations, a unified biker entrance, audience Q&A, and an official book signing experience.

Alvin C. Jacobs Jr. is a nationally recognized photographer, image activist, author, and cultural documentarian whose work preserves the people, places, movements, and stories that shape modern history. Known for his striking black-and-white imagery and his ability to capture truth with depth and dignity, Jacobs has built a powerful career documenting social justice movements, Black culture, community histories, and the visual language of resilience.

From Ferguson to Charlotte, his lens has been present for some of America’s most defining cultural and social moments. His acclaimed bodies of work, including Welcome to Brookhill, K(no)w Justice, K(no)w Peace, and Black Behind Bars, have helped establish him as a visual historian whose photography does more than document — it preserves memory, honors identity, and invites conversation.

In recent years, Jacobs’ work has expanded into a dynamic intersection of documentary photography, culture, lifestyle, and brand storytelling. As a second-generation biker and longtime storyteller of Black motorcycle culture, he has developed a distinctive visual voice around the freedom, brotherhood, style, and healing found within the motorcycle community. This evolution has led to major creative opportunities, including his collaboration with Harley-Davidson on its Racewear campaign, his feature in The Enthusiast Magazine, and his commissioned storytelling work for Harley-Davidson documenting Daytona Black Bike Week 2026.

In 2025-2026, Jacobs received a City of Charlotte Proclamation, recognizing his artistic contributions, cultural impact, and commitment to preserving stories that matter. That same year, he premiered CHROME, his first authorship project and photography book, at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture. Rooted in Black motorcycle culture, CHROME explores the riders, rituals, freedom, brotherhood, and legacy of a community whose stories deserve to be seen, honored, and remembered.

Alvin’s artistry lives at the intersection of culture, memory, movement, and legacy. Whether documenting a neighborhood, a protest, a brand campaign, a rider, or a historic cultural moment, his work is guided by one mission: to make the unseen unforgettable.

Today, Alvin C. Jacobs Jr. continues to create work for exhibitions, editorial platforms, cultural institutions, brands, organizations, and individuals seeking imagery with depth, intention, and soul.
